There are many new types of cellulite products / services but they can basically be broken down into 4 categories:
- Cellulite topical creams
- Cellulite internal supplements
- Cellulite massage / spa techniques like mesotherapy, light therapy and lasers
- Cellulite surgical techniques like liposuction
Here are some of the pros and cons of each category
Cellulite Topical Creams – Usually the most these topicals can do is increase circulation a little bit. However, you could do the same thing by just rubbing your leg for a few seconds until it turned red. Internal Supplements can be very effective at increasing circulation and microcirculation throughout your whole body on a more long term basis.
Cellulite Internal Supplements – If formulated correctly supplements can effectively combat cellulite on 4 fronts:
- Fat - support healthy fat metabolism and the conversion of fat into energy. How? With nutrients such as Bromelain, Capsicum frutescens, Artichoke extract, B Vitamins, Green Tea extract and Iodine
- Connective Tissue – promotes re-growth of healthy, supple connective tissue. How? With nutrients such as Centella Asiatica, Green Tea extract, Milk Thistle extract, Bioflavonoids, Vitamin C and B Vitamins
- Circulation – tones and strengthens blood vessels while also increasing microcirculation. How? With nutrients such as Centella Asiatica, Butcher's Broom extract, Bromelain, Niacin, Green Tea extract, Capsicum frutescens, Alpha Lipoic Acid, and Vitamin C
- Waste & Toxins - support & strengthen the body's own natural waste removal and detoxification systems such as the lymph, kidneys and liver. How? with nutrients such as Bromelain, Milk Thistle extract, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Artichoke extract, Broccoli extract, N-acetyl L-cysteine, Trimethylglycine, Pomegranate extract, Green Tea extract
Cellulite Massage / Spa Techniques – In cellulite laden areas the connective tissue is often tight and hard. Of the 4 areas that need to be addressed in order to effectively treat cellulite topical treatments are probably the most effective in this area. However, once you break down the tissue using massage techniques you need to be able to re-grow that tissue in a healthy, supple way. Taking internal supplements can help this a great deal.
Enlarged fat cells and tight connective tissue constricts circulation of both the lymph and blood. Various topical treatments are good at creating space for this circulation to take place. However, once the vessels have been constricted they become weak and ineffective. So, taking internal supplements can be very important to tone and strengthen the blood vessels and increase circulation.
A great deal of toxins get stuck in cellulite laden areas and when most cellulite treatments are performed many more toxins get released into the body. The goal of these treatments is to try and move these toxins into the major lymph nodes to be processed. This is good, but we need to remember that if the detoxifying systems of the body need to be healthy enough in order to actually perform their detoxifying functions. Taking internal supplements would be a great way to make sure these systems are healthy enough.
Cellulite Surgical Techniques – Surgical techniques like liposuction can be very effective at sucking out fat cells but they can also be very damaging by sucking out lymph vessels and nodes and creating scar tissue. Quick fixes rarely work in the long run without significant side effects.
